I wasn't expecting this. What a gorgeous game.I really want to share in detail why I enjoyed this game so much but it would be spoiling its magical atmosphere.Think Skyrim without fights. Think Myst but cozy and cute. Think The Witness but with an inventory and quests. This game has so much character and has such a beautiful and coherent background that I truly believe it is one of the most artistic games of 2019. I will keep fond memories of the lands of Eastshade for a very, very long time.. In short, Eastshade is a rewardingly unique experience. You are a traveling painter tasked with finding and painting some of your late mother's favorite locations. The gameplay mechanic of framing the composition of paintings was for me a treat. But the beautiful vast open world and colorful cast of characters were what kept me engaged. There were a variety of side quests to keep busy with, and these were surprisingly entertaining. More than simple fetch quests some unfolded in unexpected ways, affecting multiple characters or outcomes. The game was nearly bug-free during my playthrough, with nothing tarnishing the overall polish. I will caution that this game is best enjoyed only by a certain type of person. If you're only interested in fast-paced, action-based experiences, you'll likely be bored. If you are open for a slower, meditative, beautiful experience, however, don't hesitate to give this a try. I found it a refreshing breath of fresh air, and I hope it ignites a new genre. All in all, Eastshade was relaxed and contemplative. A journey I truly enjoyed every second of.. I'm incredibly disappointed. This was praised as an art-related game, full of beautiful scenery and beautiful graphics. All I can see are .png's that have bad physics on them. Untextured blue water and creepy andro-people, that don't look like animals.. more like chocolate-figures of animals, that have melted in the sun. I haven't enjoyed much of the story, as I was way too creeped out by the weird graphics, visual glitches and spooky NPCs. I'm super disappointed, as it looks nothing like the screenshots or videos. The graphics were implemented quite badly, amateur like animation and way too many glitches. If you're looking for a beautiful game with kick♥♥♥♥♥graphics: This isn't it.. I wanted to love this game, afterall how many open worlds are there that you can just wander around collect stuff and not have to kill or be killed? BUT the optimization is woefull and the frame rate is terrible even on a very modern highish spec machine. Will keep my eye on this title hoping for a major upgrade, would love to buy it again if it happens.. I overall really liked the games location, music, and quests. Love the whole idea of being a traveling artist, now I am somewhat hoping they release a game where you are a traveling bard because I loved listening to the bards play their songs on here. I would just say make it interactive like the Clara song chimes and set most likely in a different location. Just an idea, no need to act on it. I never got the memo if we were an owl, monkey, deer or bear person but I liked to imagine I was a bear person. Don't destroy my dreams. Overall this is a very peaceful game not containing combat so if you do choose to get this game try to keep an open mind, it could make you feel happy with your experience in the game. Love it and certainly made me think about other ways you can approach making games.. Incredible game. It has amazingly vast landscapes that are so beautiful and makes wandering around very enjoyable. The painting aspect of the game is very enjoyable and the paintings resemble their captures exactly, which is accurate, because during the game it is learned that the protagonist's painting style is realism. Even though it is unknown of the type of folk the protagonist is, you interact with bearfolk, owlfolk, deerfolk, and many others. These characters mainly give you fetch quests, which do get boring and repetitive after a while, but usually reward in getting to go to new areas with new sights, which is worth it in my opinion. The game throws you many hours of quests so it takes many hours to complete them all. Traveling places is very slow, but there is a fast travel option and if you get the bicycle it is awesome!!! As for the graphics, they are very detailed and immersive and the lighting is incredible. The only downside is that the game was developed with the Unity game engine, which has trouble scaling all of the details in some of it's vast scenes. I have a 1080 Ti and still get some frame drops, which gets annoying at times but the frames are usually fairly steady. I really enjoyed the music, especially the song played in Nava, and it gets stuck in your head very easily. This game is not for everyone though. If you think you have lots of patience and find yourself appreciating games with amazing graphics, and love the exploration aspect in games, I'd say this game is for you!
